This year, our team will be Mrs Harrison-Baines as Class Teacher and Mrs Rogers and Mrs Ramsay as Teaching Assistants. Miss Shaw will teach the class on Thursday afternoons.
Welcome back! We are so excited to all be back together after such a long time. For the rest of this half term, our days will be a little different. We will arrive at school at 9:05am and finish at 3:15. Our lunchtime will be at 11:30am.
For the next two weeks, we will be focusing on Art and PSHE. We will be learning all about one of our class artists Clara Peeters and creating a piece of art inspired by her work. We will also be learning about how to stay healthy in our minds and bodies. In the final week before Easter, we will be celebrating Science week! We will be learning all about teeth and the digestive system. Brass lessons will start again on Thursday 11th March and continue as normal.
The link below tell you more information about what Year 4 learn across the year. Due to partial school closures, some of this has been covered through home learning.
other important information
PE is on Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure you come to school in your full PE kit on these days. As we will be doing PE outside whenever possible, children need to wear long black or blue leggings/tracksuit bottoms, their PE t-shirt, their school jumper/cardigan and trainers. On our Friday session, we will have a coach teaching us Archery.
Brass lessons with Mr Cull from Lancashire Music Service will continue to take place on Thursday afternoons.
READING - Reading books will be changed on Thursdays so please ensure that book bags are sent in and books are returned. Your child will be given two books each week.
Please read with your child regularly. The focus should be on Comprehension.
Times tables need to be learnt on a weekly basis.
Children will be tested on their times tables weekly, starting with their 2s. They will progress through the tables at their own pace and should know their tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year Four.
In Year 4, children will continue the Spelling Bee Challenge. The children will work their way through 108 Year 3/4 words from the National Curriculum to achieve certificates. Word sets will be shared with you on Portfolios.
Homework will be set on a Friday afternoon and needs to be completed by the following Friday. Children who complete the homework by the deadline will be rewarded 2 Dojo points.
Connect to ClassDojo to see what we are doing in class and to see points your child earn for their behaviour and effort. We will aim to update our Class Story weekly and encourage parents to check in on how their child is doing throughout the week. There will be times when we use the messaging aspect of ClassDojo for communication so please look out for any messages. Feel free to send messages if you have any questions or information you would like to share about your child. We respectfully request that you allow two working days for replies and contact the school office if the message is urgent.
