Year 4



This year our team will be Miss Baines as Class Teacher and Mrs Thornton as Teaching Assistant. Miss Shaw will cover on Thursday afternoons. 


This term our topic is: 

Passport to europe

 In Geography, we will be learning about Spain, in particular the area of Catalonia. Across the curriculum, we will be designing and creating passport covers.

Other Important Information


PE is on Monday and Thursday.

Please ensure you have the correct kit in school, including correct footwear. Trainers and tracksuit bottoms/leggings will be allowed for outdoor lessons.


Brass Lessons will take place on Wednesday afternoons. There will be a concert for parents at the end of each term to celebrate what the children have learnt.

Please ensure instruments are in school each week and report any problems so these can be passed on to Mr Dawson.


This half term, the children will be given a Passport to Europe Homework Challenge Sheet


 Reading - should be completed every night. The focus should be on Comprehension

Remember: every time you read your school reading book and get a parent to sign your diary, you will receive a mark towards the Reading Challenge Reward. This half term you need to read at least 25 times to be able to receive the treat.



Times tables - need to be learnt on a weekly basis.

Children should know their tables up to

12 x 12 by the end of year 4. 


This half term, Years 3 and 4 will be continuing the Spelling Bee challenge. The children will work their way through the 108 Year 3/4 words from the National Curriculum to achieve certificates.

Activities will be set each Friday and need to be completed by the following Friday.

Remember to connect to ClassDojo to see how your child is earning points and checking in on what is going on in class on the Class Story.

We will aim to update the Class Story weekly and encourage parents to check their child's progress throughout the week. There will be times that we will use the messaging aspect of ClassDojo for communication so please look out for any messages and feel free to send any messages to ask any questions or let us know of anything.
